Do you have any experience working as a Treasury Management?
This one’s pretty simple – discuss your experience as it relates to the job you’re applying for. Don’t get caught off guard by this question should you not any actual experience. Plan ahead and have something relatable to share. Your interviewer will appreciate your ability to relate skills gained in one position to another.

Things are changing quickly in our industry. What do you feel are the biggest challenges within the role of Treasury Management?
To be certain, a wide range of answers are acceptable here. Try discussing ‘buzzworthy’ topics like AI, software, and inexpensive labor. However, be prepared to explain why you answered the way you did – and do some research ahead of time.

What do you to ensure error free work?
While we all make mistakes, accountants can afford no such luxury. Here, your interviewer isn’t looking for some superhuman form of error free workmanship. What they’re looking for here is some sort of system of checks and balances.

Rain or shine, I always make sure that x is reviewed 3 times over and referenced against y before it goes out the door
Describe a situation you needed to use data to prove a point?
Numbers don’t lie. Here, it isn’t about you being right or a client being wrong, it’s about finding the facts through data. A great example here would be anything relating to a decision where your data made a difference.

In a recent client meeting, by clearly visualizing some key figures we were able to save them $10s of thousands in tax payable.
Tell me about a time when you received difficult feedback. How did you react?
One of the most difficult things to dispense – and receive – is critique of work. Anyone who has spent enough time in this industry realizes that human error is part of the job, and no one is perfect. The interviewer here is looking for one thing in particular: how you reacted in the situation. Was there ownership of a mistake, or deflection? By showing your cool in the reaction itself, you demonstrate leadership characteristics that employers love.

Ill never forget the time my old boss talked to me about x. The way it was handled was totally professional, and thats been my model ever since.
Would those that know you describe you as a detail oriented person? Why might they describe you that way?
The devil is in the details – and even more so with accounting! As an accountant, this is a serious requirement. Here, your interviewer is looking for examples.

Which accounting specific software are you familiar with?
These days, your mastery of accounting software is practically expected. If your experience lies in a single – or outdated platform, be sure you are familiar with the current standards. Spend a night and compile names of cutting edge platforms, and mention these along with their purpose to your interviewer.

The bulk of my experience lies with the x platform, but Im fascinated with some of what the y system is capable of
Culture is important to us here. Which style of work enviornment do feel most productive in?
Culture is king these days, and for good reason. Simply put, culture fit means that your values are in alignment with your prospective employer’s. While you may be a lone wolf, be careful how you answer this question should it fall out of alignment with the organization.

I succeed when given clear expectations of me and my team, and find a balance of working individually as well as alongside a team is when Im most content
Without revealing too much info – why are you leaving your last job?
Tread lightly! This question can be a dealbreaker if answered improperly. Your desire for better compensation or venting about the ‘terrible leadership’ at your last job may leave your interviewer with the wrong impression of you. Even if you were let go, keep it short and concise, and avoid drama at all costs.

Working at x was a great experience for a vareity of reasons, but now its time to seek out new challenges
